A RAINY day didn’t deter hundreds of prospective UNE students from checking out campus and enjoying the activities on offer.
Despite the popular college tug of war being called off because of the weather, UNE students and staff still put their best foot forward to showcase the univeristy.
The day began with breakfasts at the colleges, with future students getting to check out where they will be eating, sleeping, socialising and studying for the rest of their degrees.
Students also got a chance to attend course advising and academic advice in Lazenby Hall with lecturers and staff from Student Assist and the Student Centre on hand to give advice on courses available, study mode options, scholarship opportunities, UNExtra Early Entry and student support services.
Dr Myfanwy Maple, course co-ordinator of the Bachelor of Social Work said the new degree had been attracting plenty of attention.
“There has been lots of interest, we’ve had lots of enquiries, partly through all the advertising we have been doing but also through word of mouth.
“We’ve had lots of people coming up to talk to us who have already put in an application, which is fantastic.”
With the business end of the day over, students were free to enjoy the entertainment provided by DJ Rusty and TUNE!FM and chow down on the free food.
Students were also able to take in faciltiies such as the IT Labs and the renovated Dixson library.
