BUDDING young film makers in the region are being invited to throw their creative collective behind the Sustainable Living Expo 2008 by participating in the inaugural SLEX 08 Film Festival.
Any school, child or group of students from an educational institution are able to enter as many times as they choose.
SLEX 08 event co-ordinator Alison Buckley said the film could be on any subject as long as the focus was on the issue of sustainability.
“The film can cover any genre from cartoon to documentary, mystery, comedy, fiction, abstract, essay or even horror,” Alison said.
“There is a range of possible topics including peak oil, our use of oil, water, waste, health, climate, endangered species, carbon emissions, energy production, environment, recycling, consumption, composting, food or perhaps some other topic that the student may come up with.”
The film must meet the following criteria to be eligible for entry:
1. The film must address the issue of Sustainability;
2. Maximum 8 minutes in length;
3. Submitted as a DVD;
4. Received by September 1 by Alison Buckley at Armidale Dumaresq Council, PO Box 75A, Armidale, NSW 2350; and
5. Suitability for a public audience.
The films will be screened during the Live. Garden. Farm. event, being held at the Armidale Showground from Friday, to Sunday, September 19 to 21.
